Understanding Habbo’s API Privacy Update and Documentation Changes

Missed the latest news about the Habbo API updates and their impact on player privacy? Don’t worry, we’ve got all the details for you! 🤝

Player Privacy Update

On August 13, 2024, Habbo announced a significant change to their API to enhance player privacy. This change ensures that when players set their profiles to private, their information and photos will no longer be accessible through fansites or community-run third-party websites via the API.

This update will particularly impact features like the “banned” tag on popular third-party platforms such as HabboWidgets.com.

What This Means for Players:

  • Private profiles are now fully protected from third-party access.
  • Fansites relying on Habbo’s API can no longer display data from private accounts, as they were previously allowed.
Updated API Documentation

On September 25, 2024, Habbo unveiled updated API documentation to support web developers and fansite creators. The refreshed documentation makes it much easier to find and access API endpoints, allowing Habbos to build better tools and services for the community!

For a detailed look, check out Habbo’s official API page, which provides a well-organized list of API endpoints for both Habbo and Habbo Origins.

Although there are no immediate plans to expand the API with new endpoints, Habbo has expressed openness to future enhancements based on community feedback. If you’re curious about APIs and how they benefit gaming communities, take a look at this beginner’s guide to video game APIs

Habbos interested in more endpoints should consider tagging the official @Habbo account on X (formerly Twitter) with their feedback!
